Meet Our Firm: Law Offices of Greg Quimby P.C.
Attorney Greg Quimby
Greg is the father of both a boy and a girl. Erica Vasconcellos, our law firm's other attorney, is his daughter, and he is a grandfather of six. His personal and professional experiences gives him the ability to relate and empathize with his clients and present their concerns to the court. After graduating from Boston College (with honors) in 1973, he became a police officer with the Prince George's County Maryland Police Department. While working in law enforcement he actively pursued further education, received an additional degree in accounting in 1983 and eventually became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1985. Greg moved with his family to Colorado Springs in 1985 where he entered the field of accounting, continuing his education and receiving a Master's of Business Administration (MBA) in finance in 1988 from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs.
Years of experience in the accounting industry led him back to school, this time to the University of Denver College of Law. He graduated in 1993 with a scholarship for litigation and was voted to address the graduating class as their class speaker. Greg spent the next five years as a prosecutor, here and in Trinidad, Colorado. He started as a deputy district attorney and ended his prosecutorial career as the Assistant District Attorney and the Chief Trial Deputy. His prosecutions included everything from first-degree murder, child abuse and domestic violence to DUI. In private practice since 1998, Greg specializes in family law as well as the types of cases that naturally accompany it: domestic violence, restraining orders, and child support.
Attorney Erica Vasconcellos
Erica is the daughter of Greg Quimby and attended Academy District 20 in Colorado Springs. She attended the University of Colorado where she studied political science and graduated Magna Cum Laude with honors. After attending law school at the University of Denver College of Law, she was sworn in to the Colorado Bar in October of 2003.
Erica is a dedicated family law attorney, but first and foremost, a mother. She and her husband, Josh, are the proud parents of three wonderful children. Jordan is attending school and is involved with soccer, T-ball, swimming and art. She also has two daughters, Madison and Emma, who are identical twins. Erica believes in the importance of family as it grounds her, teaches patience and empathy and makes her realize the importance of being a family advocate and attorney. She is here to help people through some of the most difficult times in their lives by remaining compassionate, supportive and committed to finding the best solutions for them.
Attorney Mitzi McClellan Knox
Mitzi, originally from Texas, made Colorado Springs her home in 1991. After obtaining her under graduate degree from Texas Tech University, she went on to pursue her doctor of jurisprudence degree from St. Mary's School of Law where Mitzi was a member of the Board of Barrister's. She was sworn in to the Texas State Bar in 1986. Her primary practice was civil litigation involving medical malpractice product's liability, and personal injury defense. After moving to Colorado, Mitzi focused on her family, re-entering trial law after being sworn in to the Colorado State Bar in 2006 and in to the United States District Court for the District of Colorado Federal Bar in 2007.
Mitzi has joined the Quimby Family Law Team switching her trial practice from personal injury and professional malpractice litigation to pursue the path of her volunteer interest of advocating for children's and victims' rights. Mitzi, as a parent and a single parent, readily admits her greatest education came from her children which developed her desire to volunteer with organizations like CASA in supporting children's and victim's rights. Her advocacy for victims, these individuals, drew her to becoming a family advocate as an attorney. Going through a divorce or matters involving your child creates a convoluted emotional, financial, and legal landscape. Mitzi is dedicated to helping people through this difficult phase as a compassionate, supportive, committed advocate and lawyer.
