There are several reasons why a divorce may extend the 90-day period, and the primary being disputed issues, such as child custody and the division of property. If the involved parties cannot reach an agreement on an issue, they may file a Request for Order, which can cover the including:

  • Child custody, visitation, and support

  • Spousal support

  • Property possession

  • Payment of debt

  • Restraining orders against domestic violence

  • Modification of a previous order

If each individual files motions, the divorce process is more likely to continue.
